Privacy Policy

The Big Frank Challenge ("BFC," "we," "us") is a memorial fitness fundraiser benefiting A Walk on Water, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. This policy explains what information we collect across our website (bigfrankchallenge.com) and our participant scoreboard (scoreboard.bigfrankchallenge.com), and how we use it. We keep it plain.

What we collect

• When you register or donate (through Givebutter): your name, email, and (for participants) a shirt size and shipping address, plus payment details. Payments and this checkout are processed by Givebutter; we receive a roster of registrants, not your card information.
• When you use the scoreboard: your name and email (to send you your private access link), and the activities you log during the challenge (for example, "5 miles running"), which become your points on the shared leaderboard.
• Just browsing this website: we use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and how they move through the site. It collects standard, aggregated usage data (pages viewed, device type, approximate location, referring link) and does not identify you by name. We do not run advertising trackers. Our web fonts are served by Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address as part of delivering them.

Cookies & local storage

Google Analytics sets its own cookies to measure site usage as described above. Beyond that, this website sets no advertising cookies. The scoreboard stores a small amount of data in your browser's local storage: your private access token (so you stay signed in on your device) and the list of challengers you follow. This stays on your device and is not used for advertising.

How we use it

• To register you, send you your scorecard link, and run the leaderboard.
• To fulfill and ship any merchandise you purchase.
• To send challenge-related email (like your welcome link and updates) from our team.
• To total and display points on the shared board; other participants can see your display name, your points, and your activity breakdown. Your email and address are never shown publicly.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the services that make the challenge run:

• Givebutter: registration, donations, and fundraising pages.
• Google: we run the scoreboard on Google Sheets and Google Apps Script, send email through Google Workspace, and use Google Analytics for website usage stats.
• A Walk on Water: the nonprofit beneficiary receives the funds raised.

Your choices

You can ask us to remove you from the scoreboard or delete your information at any time. Just email move@bigfrankchallenge.com. For registration or donation records held by Givebutter, you can also contact them directly.

Children

The challenge is intended for adults. A Walk on Water serves children through its surf-therapy programs, but we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this website or the scoreboard.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. Material changes will be noted on this page.
