Community & Impact
The BFC runs on friendly accountability. Participants use a live, shared leaderboard to post daily totals—creating race-day energy all month. Past BFCs have supported Wounded Warrior Project, Bikes for Kids, Folds of Honor, and the Ellison Institute of Technology.
In Memory
In 2024, we dedicated the Challenge to our friend Christopher “Mezz” Mezzavilla, who created the participant scoresheets. His work and spirit live on in this community.
Who Was Big Frank?
Frank “Big Frank” Sabatasso was the community’s most devoted fan. From youth leagues through college, he showed up with a booming voice and an even bigger heart, cheering not only for his son but for his son’s friends. After a major stroke in 2019, Big Frank lit up Torrance Memorial throughout Covid lockdown, where nurses and therapists cheered him on like teammates—his spirit shining even without a voice. He passed away at home in 2020 and his voice can still be heard at every venue throughout Southern California. The Challenge carries his legacy forward: show up, push yourself, and support each other.
